She's a talker...

This girl likes to talk. She babbles morning, noon and night! Some conversations are very serious, while others are pretty funny.
I am thinking this one was more funny than serious.
Yep, definitely more funny!
I am often asked if the boy and girl look alike... so I'll let you decide. Below are pics of Caden around the same age as Carinna is now.

They look more similar then I remembered, but not just alike. We'll just say they look like siblings.

He survived his first day of preschool (and so did I)...

I wanted to do the "back to school" photo op like everyone else, but he wasn't all that interested at first...

Then he got the hang of saying "cheese"...
"Mommy, CHEEEEESSSSEEE!!"
Cheese while showing off Lightening McQueen...
When I dropped him off at the door I asked for a hug and a kiss (which he gave... reluctantly). Then he took off running into the room and sat down with the teacher to play with the cars.

Then I headed out for breakfast with the girls!

I think he had a wonderful time. But I did panic a little when I picked him up. I have never seen his skin so red or his hair so saturated with sweat. They had been on the playground for the past 45 minutes and it showed! I rushed him to the water fountain where we camped out for the next 10 minutes or so until he started to return to a normal color! He was still pretty red even after coming home, downing a cup full of ice cold juice and having his clothes taken off. But he was in a great mood, so I know it was fun! I think next time I will just pick him up a little earlier (with some ice water on hand)!
The sister on the other hand couldn't care less about what was going on! She just happily went along for the ride!

Family Vacation

When Carinna was born I figured we would not take a family vacation this year. I didn't think I wanted to brave flying to Colorado with such a small baby. But as the summer passed, a situation arose that prompted us to plan the trip anyway. So we did it, we braved travel with a 2 yr old and a 2 month old... and you know what, we had a blast!

Caden loved the airport! He sat at the window almost the entire time and watched the planes come and go (as well as all the various trucks and trailers and even a helicopter!).

Then the excitement continued once we boarded the plane. He has hit that age where he has started to experience fear, so we were worried that he would be scared of the plane... but thankfully we were totally wrong!

Papa Bumb and the boys on a mini hike!

He is trying to push the boulder into the lake. He has a thing for throwing rocks into the water. Notice the determination in the eyebrows! Love it!
Celebrating his birthday at the cabin. Grandma and Pawcaw didn't get to be at his party, since they were waiting on us in Colorado.
Every time he would open a gift he would immediately start saying "Daddy, open. Open it. Daddy! Open it."
A family pic. It was too cold out at that particular location to get Carinna out of the car. The guys had been fishing there (with no luck) and me, Grandma and the kids drove out to meet them. Just up the road Lance Armstrong was winning a bike race... I didn't take pictures of that. But the crowd around there was ridiculous!
Pawcaw made the boy a walking stick. He used it very well!

The Cascades.
Feeding the ground squirrels and chipmunks. He did so well! He didn't even try to stomp them until the very end!
And don't worry, I had a ton of GermX waiting in the car! These critters get fed there everyday... all day. It has been that way since I was a little kid!

The day we left the cabin! Everyone was in a good mood so we got one last family pic!
The trip to Denver is about 3 hours so we decided to break up the trip to make it easier on the little guys. It was a good decision. We were able to spend some time with family in Denver that night and we were so glad to see them! Then we had such a nice time sitting in the dark... just the four of us... watching a storm pass by our hotel.

The next day we were ready to get on home!
Caden hitched a ride on the luggage cart! He was being so helpful! Four people, 3 suitcases, 3 carry-ons, 2 carseats... ugh!
We were delayed for a bit trying to get home, but both kids did so well waiting to leave. Once the plane started moving they were both out!
I heart family vacations!

Carinna is 3 months old...

Since she has turned 3 months old in Colorado I tried to take a picture to commemorate it. You can't really tell, but this is on the porch of the cabin looking towards the mountains. This month this is what you get...

Not too happy to have her picture taken. But here is a sweet picture of her new trick... she likes to suck her thumb... oh dear.

Birthday Celebration Part 2

Then on his actual birthday we had a little last minute party. He was in a pretty silly mood!

He really liked this one!
The cake.
Blowing out the candle. Gotta love the face.
After blowing out the candle he decided to drive the cars through the icing.

Cake is yummy!
Sugar kicked in!

Birthday Celebration Part 1

We kicked off the birthday celebration on Friday with a visit to the water park. Caden had never actually been swimming, so this was quite an experience for him. It took a little while to get comfortable in the water... but by the time we had to leave he was having a blast!

He and the dad had a good time floating in the lazy river. They have the same eyebrows!

This was the only slide he was big enough to go down, but it was perfect for him.
He also put his face under the water!
Vivian and Uncle Dave joined us too.

Then that evening we went to see Ice Age 3. On the way he needed his sunglasses!
Then he put them on top of his head when they got in the way.
He would NOT look at the camera! Stinker!
He made it about 3/4 of the way through the movie before we had to start asking him to be quiet. Thankfully there was only one other family in the theater with us, so it wasn't a big deal.
Before we left he tried out a few rides. Anything went... birthdays are a big deal!
